Named after NomtiPom Wintu artist Frank LaPena’s book, “The World is a Gift”. (The NomtiPom are the original people of the Castle Crags region), The Gift House is a peaceful, beautiful space
right under the Crags, with double doors that open out onto Reflection Pond. It is connected to Castle Creek, which flows with fresh spring water only a few miles from where the water sees its first light. 

The Gift House is the quieter, more contemplative area of the lodge, with the space designed for retreats geared toward inner development. It has a large open room for hosting a circle of people or a class. There is also a break out room with a table and eight chairs and a daybed that can sleep one person. There is a bedroom with two twin beds, as well as two bathrooms, washer and dryer and a kitchen. There are folding chairs, some carpets, yoga mats, meditation cushions and outdoor chairs and tables that can be set up to meet your group’s needs. There is a private hot tub shared only with the next door glamper. The glamper also can sleep several people and can be rented separately to ensure complete privacy of the pond.

Within this space we have hosted book readings, meditation and yoga classes, art exhibits, film screenings, and fireside chats for guests of the Lodge. It is a kind of a zendō, (a japanese meditation hall), and is a dedicated space for inner practice. The space has minimal furniture, and a shoes-off / no-alcohol policy.
