Gateway to Mount Shasta

Jubilee Railroad is a truly unique experience. Located in a densely-forested, spring-fed-creek valley, our 43-acre wilderness lodge backs up to the Jurassic-period crystalline rock formations of the Castle Crags wilderness. We are also the eastern gateway to the “Klamath Knot”, a global biodiversity hotspot! 

Historic caboose lodging, vintage cabins, a farm-to-table destination restaurant, scenic campground facilities, a year round stream, a meadow for star-gazing and campfires, and connection to myriad hiking trails, including the Pacific Crest Trail.

  • We relaxed in the hot tub looking at the cliffs, crags and rising moon after a long drive. It was a delight to wake up to a colorful railroad yard surrounded by forested mountains and blue skies. Can't wait to return.

  • The Jubilee Railroad Restaurant has a new chef with excellent vegan options on the menu!! Both the DakBulgogi with Tofu and the English Pea & Asparagus Risotto were exquisitely crafted, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious! Well done Chef! The staff, especially Jordan were attentive and courteous. Certainly some of the best vegan food in the Mount Shasta region!

  • What an amazing experience! It was so quiet and relaxing. We stayed three wonderful nights and enjoyed every minute. I was really amazed how many stars you can see and even took photos of the Milky Way galaxy to show my students. The stay was so delightful that my son and I have already reserved our cabooses for next year.

  • Staying at Jubilee Railroad Wilderness Lodge in a caboose was such a fun adventure. The location is very convenient off of I-5 and close to a variety of fun activities in the Shasta area. The food and atmosphere of the Dinner Car was beyond awesome. Their professionalism and service was exquisite. This place passed all my expectations and was well beyond spectacular. I plan to return any time I'm in the area.

  • We LOVE this place! Best campground ever!!! It has all the amenities but feels peaceful like campgrounds of the past. Nostalgic camping at its best! It was full of happy families and retired couples. No loud music or stumbling drunks (you know who you are lake campground people). This is definitely our new go to spot!

  • We had a very wonderful weekend. There is such a variety of activities within a few minutes; hiking, eclectic shopping, museum, botanical gardens, fun places to eat. Minutes from Shasta Lake cruises and caverns. So fun to stay in a caboose, all the luxuries of a standard motel, but with extra fun. Outdoor movie, pool and hot tub, picnic areas, great restaurant & bar on property. Spectacular view of Castle Crags and the sound of Little Castle Creek running along side.

  • Such an interesting and fun hotel. Stayed here with my wife and two boys. The place was perfect. The rooms are unique and fun. The pool and spa were clean. The river is right there, and there is a playground for the kids. What more do you want. Well they also have a dinning car on site. The food looked amazing, I don't know how it was, but the bartender made a great maple old fashioned. Would definitely stay here again in Dunsmuir.

  • "We had the most wonderful stay at the campground! The sites are spacious and nestled in the woods near a stream. We had two delicious meals at the dining car and craft cocktails as well. Everyone from the camp host to the servers to the gift shop person were warm, friendly, and helpful. We will definitely be back!"

  • We recently spent three wonderful days at Jubilee Railroad Wilderness Lodge in Dunsmuir with my daughter and her family. It was truly a special experience from beginning to end. As lovely as the photos are, they simply don’t do this place justice. The entire property is beautiful, charming, and thoughtfully maintained. Our cabin was warm, comfortable, and perfectly equipped for a few fun-filled winter days exploring and playing in the nearby Shasta area. It was perfectly suited for our young family and thoughtfully accommodating for our pup as well. What truly set this stay apart was the incredible staff. Every person we encountered was kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They offered wonderful recommendations for nearby eateries and shared tips on the best places to take the children to play in the snow. Dining at the on-site restaurant, The Dining Car, was another highlight. The space itself is inviting and full of character, and the food was exceptional.

  • Had a wonderful stay in a fun unique park. Great location to commute to Mt. Shasta ski park. And with a five star restaurant located in the park, made the stay even better. The staff at the restaurant were very accommodating even when seats started filling up they let us eat in a special car that fit our needs perfectly.

  • A hidden gem just off 5 in Dunsmuir. The most amazing service by the caretakers of the property- shoveling snow off your steps/walkway each morning, clearing roads in case you plan on exploring the surroundings, and keeping the grounds pristine. The cars are separated by enough space to make it feel like you're alone in the woods, but you're actually just steps from the ice machine, gift shop, and other modern luxuries (like the fine dining restaurant on the other side of the check in building). Will definitely be back and highly recommend to anyone wanting to get some snow time in without the traffic and crowds of Tahoe. Great for couples looking for a date weekend, families with younger or older kids- there's plenty of property to explore and even a playground. Bring Fido because it's dog friendly and there's plenty of adventures to be had.

  • Hidden Gem Beneath the Crags -- A Perfect Blend of History, Heart, and Hospitality! We revisited the Railroad Hotel & RV Park - now Jubilee Railroad - in Castella (near Castle Crags) and were amazed by how much it's grown since our last visit about five years ago! It feels like there might be new owners, and they're really putting love and creativity into the place. The setting is gorgeous -- mountain views, peaceful trees, and a sense of local history you can feel in the air. They've started hosting weekend events that are absolutely worth checking out: some are donation-based, others have a small fee, but all have real community spirit. We've seen everything from historical talks and sound bowl evenings to meet-the-artist nights -- such a refreshing way to spend a weekend evening without leaving the area. Their restaurant is excellent too, and it makes for a great stop even if you're just passing through.

  • First time visiting. The lodge grounds are big and beautiful. We loved the creek running through the grounds with butterflies and frogs. The little waterfall with the lily pads was delightful. The rooms are spacious and have comfortable beds. Lots of windows. In the room there is a Tv, microwave, and a fridge that kept our drinks nice and cold. We had dinner in the restaurant which is on the grounds of the lodge; ambience on point with live music. Pricey but worth it, and our server was superb. There is so much to see and do. Games to play and there was even a movie night with fresh popcorn being served. The lodge is not far from several waterfalls. We visited Hedge Creek and it was glorious and magnificent, small hike. Also not far from Historic Dunsmuir. Friendly town where we ate breakfast and dinner on our last night. Overall, all that we did and saw was worth every dollar. We plan to return in the future for more adventures.

  • Our stay at Jubilee Railroad was absolutely unforgettable. We arrived as a large family of nine adults and six children, each of us assigned to a different railroad car and a nearby tent site. Those cars are utterly charming and bring a lot of excitement to the trip! The resort’s family‑friendly vibe really shines through: everyone from kids to grandparents loved the pool, the hot tub, and the spacious grounds. The property was impeccably tidy, and our rooms remained spotless throughout. After a fun day, we headed to one of the campgrounds, gathered around the fire, toasted marshmallows for s’mores, and watched the moon crest over the rocky peaks. The whole setting—mountains, lush trees, a babbling brook, a playground, and even a train ride—made Jubilee Railroad a must‑visit for any family looking for a memorable getaway.
