Our caboose rooms may be one of the most unique places to stay in Northern California that you won’t find at other Dunsmuir hotels. We offer rooms for two and family rooms for three to five guests. Each caboose room is unique and features a full private bathroom and some have climb-up cupolas for watching sunsets. Be aware that these are authentic cabooses and their STAIRS are more NARROW and STEEP. Use Care.
Caboose 10
(1 Queen, 2 Twins) Great Northern Railway, “bay window”, caboose with blue exterior. Features a charming knotty pine interior with 1 Queen bed and 2 Twin beds. Close to the pool and alongside the relaxing babbling brook.
Caboose 11
(1 Queen) Southern Pacific, “bay window”, caboose with classic brown and orange exterior. Features a charming interior adorned with railroad pictures, signage and 1 Queen bed. Close to the restaurant, pool and alongside the relaxing babbling brook.
Cabin 5
(1 Queen) Historic “Crew Dispatcher” cabin with a charming, comfortable interior. There is a separate living room that includes a comfortable seating area. The separate bedroom has a Queen bed and contemporary furniture.. The front porch invites you to sit and take in the majestic views of the Castle Crags.
Boxcar 1
(1 King, 1 Twin) Erie Railroad yellow caboose. One of the 2 wooden cabooses with an original interior. A cupola with a bench seat is featured in this caboose which is a good spot to sit and read a good book. There is one King bed and one Twin bed. There is a small patio table and chairs for relaxing outside.
Cabin 4
(1 Queen) Historic “Trainmaster” cabin with a charming, comfortable interior. There is a separate living room that includes a glider rocking chair. The separate bedroom has a Queen bed and contemporary furniture. The front porch invites you to sit and take in the majestic views of the Castle Crags.
